writing consciously,
speaking clearly,
and telling the truth.

My name is Shelia Sutton, and I have been teaching for 31 years! I love working with teenagers, and my goal is to educate their hearts as well as their brains!
I am a National Board Certified Teacher and a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist in the state of California. My classroom teaching experience spans over 30 years in the public school system. I teach high school English, but at the heart of my work is my dedication to create a joyful classroom environment where relational brain skills are taught and practiced.
My work as a licensed psychotherapist focuses on the neuroscience of cultivating and propagating joy, returning to peace from emotional upset, growing resiliency through the practice of appreciation, mastering the maturity tasks, resolving trauma through Immanuel Journaling, and writing and story-telling as paths to deeper healing and connection to self and others.
I hold two masters degrees, one in English and one in psychology. I coauthored JOY STARTS HERE with Dr. James Wilder, Chris Coursey, and Ed Khouri.
