Where I'm From
by Tiffany Lee
grade 9
I am from music,
from radios and iPods,
from the small, yet beautiful, crystal chandelier,
that hangs above me--watching my every move.
I am from grapefruit trees,
the soft Hawaiian Hibiscus flowers,
whose petals fall ever so gently.
from the fallen leaves that tend to dance in the wind
and the soft giggles of happiness.
I am from the tacky, green curtains that hide all our secrets,
from "Be polite!" and "Don't slouch!"
I am from the annual family reunions up at our ski home,
and the exotic family vacations.
I am from the photos promptly closed shut
behind the thick walls of the photo album
and the memories that rest in the back of my head
that never fade away.
