Vocabulary Building

Students use Circle Maps to define the weekly vocabulary words. The circle maps are broken up into 4 quadrants. In quadrant 1 students define the word. In quadrant 2 students write synonyms. In quadrant 3 students write antonyms. In quadrant 4 students create a graphic representation of the word or construct a sentence using the word.

Directions to Students:

Vocabulary Cards and Tests—Each week you will learn 20 new words. 10 words will come from the SAT list located on the VOCABULARY Tab. The other 10 words may be chosen by you. These words must be words you do not already know! You will make a CIRCLE MAP of each word on an index card. Each Friday, you and your respective “clock partner” will test each other.
