This week's Joy Story, happened today. I was in the restroom and I seen this girl who I always see in the restroom every 2nd period passing period. I noticed that she was staring at my skirt, and little did I know , she was examining it. Next thing you know, I simply smiled. And that's when she was shocked and said , " I like your skirt , where'd you get it?" This simply start because I SMILED. If I didn't , she wouldn't have the urge to tell me that. Some people may react differently by thinking she is a weirdo or something because she was looking at your outfit, but a simple smile can turn it to positive. And ever since that time period, I seen her in the hallway and started saying hi and now we're friends. What a way to make new friends. A simple smile,. that's all we need.
Keep doing what you are doing! I am sure many people will feel really comfortable talking to you! You are totally right about smiling! It really is the best way to warm someone!
Wow! That was awesome there should be more people like you in this world all you need is a smile.
That's a fine piece of human interaction. I'm glad you were able to spread joy in such a self-fulfilling way. You communicated with other people nicely and that really reached out to someone. I'm jelly. I couldn't do that. Eh. Interesting story
I don't know that the best response to an awkward situation is smiling, but it often is, and in this example that was proven right.
Oh wow, a simple smile can really friendly and heartwarming.
good girl clara. youve changed into the most beautiful girl ever.
One of my best friends was upset and sulking because of family issues. I felt very uncomfortable myself seeing him like that. I decided to buy him breakfast and surprise him when I got to school in the morning. I went to Starbucks and got his favorite drink and a chocolate croissant hoping to cheer him up! Although I was not able to give him the breakfast in person, I saw him later on in the day. He was smiling and thanked me for such a kind gesture. I hope that he will be in better mood throughout the next couple of weeks as he battles these family conflicts. I will be there for him when he needs me!
It's great how you cared about how he was doing. I am sure that all your friends would be happy to have you as a friend. Being caring and thoughtful gives people a great feeling of being important.
Awwh Ryan! How kind of you! :) I knew you were kind already, so I wasn't surprised reading your Joy Story! I'm glad you did what you did because I am pretty sure that gesture cheered him up. Keep doing what you're doing and spread more joy!
Wow Ryan you are such a loving and compassionate person! The selfless way you helped out your friend shows what an amazing heart you have, I'm glad to know that there is people out in this world like you!
Aw Ryan! that is so sweet of you. I've always thought you were a super kind person, and what you just did with your friend is such a thoughtful and caring way to cheer up your friend. Keep spreading more joy!
Amy told me that she is really happy that she is getting her phone, and then we congratulated her for it, :) HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY JOY!! Have a beautiful day everyone! (hope this made you smile)
aww that was so kind of you ryan! Your friend must be very grateful to have you as a friend (:
That was very nice and kind of you. Because of you, he probably felt good the rest of the day knowing that he had such a nice friend like you!
I think that was really nice of you! I know that would have cheered me up.
Once in the restroom, I walked into a stall where a girl had left her cellphone lying on top of the toilet paper dispenser. I was wondering if I should just leave it there so that maybe if she comes back, she will find it. A thought came into my mind, and it was what would happen if she doesn't come back and cannot find her cellphone, so i decided to take it to the lost and found. Before I left, a girl ran into the restroom looking like she was panicking, and I was sure that it was her phone. I asked her if it was hers and she was so relieved and said thank you. Doing these little things will not hurt me and it's great how it helps others.
Wow, you are so kind! These days its hard to find a caring person ! Not only that it shows your honesty, and instead of taking the phone and having karma getting back at you, but you did the right thing. Not only that it shows your personality and character, but it also brings out the positive inside of you! Keep doing what you are doing, people like you is what makes this world a better place to live!
wow, i would never thought you would give it back to her, you are so nice. but again, that person should be careful next time.
That such as a wonderful gesture because last time its happened to me someone found it and tried to keep it, but it was uncomfortable because i saw her taking it.
You're so awesome Amanda. :D You're so caring and thoughtful too. :3
My friend was really sad about something on Saturday, so she texted me and said she needed to talk to someone. That night I wasn't really busy, so I picked her up from her house and took her to Starbucks to cheer her up. It was great to see a smile on her face again,
Aww, Fandi that was so sweet of you, I'm sure she appreciated it. Keep cheering people up (:
Aww Fandi! That's really sweet!
That's nice Fandi
AWWW FANDERSSS, KEEP DOING WHAT YOURE DOING!!!! i love itttt !
Thats a very kind gesture! Its so great you took time out of your day to help a friend out like that.
On Saturday while I was at Cadet Academy I noticed that my friend Monica was in a really bad place. She wasn't acting like herself and I asked what had happened. She finally opened up to me and I gave her my input on what she should do. Monica felt as if she wasn't worth much, and I let her know that there is a lot out there and we all struggle with this at one point and I told her my story and she felt better. She tells me I'm a really good friend and I'm glad i helped her because after that she was happy.
That's really nice of you Dolores! I'm glad you did that because you made her day a lot better than it was previously. You are truly a great friend to have!
Good friends and understanding people are hard to come by, and it's a comforting thought to know that there are people out there who know how to handle delicate situations.
Dolores! That was such a sweet gesture of you! I'm glad that you were able to make your friend Monica feel better. I'm sure your advice was of much help (:
On Monday, I made a really awesome card for my friend. I wrote about how much I appreciated her and cared about her. I made it really nice and pretty. I poured my heart out into this card and made sure that she would feel better because she was having a bad day. I'm glad I made this card for her because she loved it and greatly enjoyed it as well. I believe I made her day a bit better.
Ben Trinh!!! What an awesome guy!!
Last Tuesday on my way home, I saw a little girl fall down on her bike. I looked around, and it seemed like she rode her bicycle ahead of her mom. I noticed that her mom was busy talking to someone and did not see that her child had fallen. Therefore, I quickly ran ahead and picked her up from the ground. She was a really brave girl. She did not cry even though her knees were a bit scraped up. When I brought the girl back to her two feet, her mom finally took notice. She ran to us, and her daughter told her what had happened. She thanked me and asked how she can repay me back. I simply smiled and said to her "I'm glad I can help." I'm glad I was able to help someone because helping others is what saves humanity.
Aww ! Lewen, you're so nice ! :')
Wow Lewen that is so nice of you :) Some people see things like that everyday and don't acknowledge them. You however took the initiative to help the young girl in distress! Props to you! :)
Good Job Lewen!
On the Monday that was reserved for spreading joy I made a card for my younger brother who was having some difficulties in school, and was feeling down because of it. The card was a simple gesture saying that he is awesome the way he is and that he can accomplish anything he puts his mind to. When I gave it to him his face immediately lit up knowing that his older brother believed in him. I've always supported my brother, and tried to let him know that. I think the card I made him helped lift his mood quite a bit.
awwww Adam! It's always so sweet to see older siblings care for their younger ones, I'm sure your brother was very happy to receive a card from you. :)
It's great to hear that you're so supportive of your brother.
On sunday, I had a friend that was feeling really bad about herself because of a volleyball game, so I ended up taking her out for ice cream and buying her a small basket full of her favorite sweets. She instantly put a smile back on her face when she received it. It was great to see her to cheer up again!
aw thats so sweet
you're a great friend kara! :)
Kara that is such a sweet gesture! I'm sure your friend was extremely appreciative of what you did.
On Monday I felt like many people were sad because of the weather so I started to talk to them and said hi. On the same day my friends and I were also tired of the weather so to be happy we went to Baskin Robins to get ice cream.
That was nice Jimmy! :D keep spreading Joy!
Jimmy Nguyen is my friend in stats class. Without Jimmy, that class would be boring. Jimmy brings me joy.
Last week my friend was upset about her grade, I got the chance to cheer her up by giving her hope. So the day after, I organized a study group with her as well as buying her a drink.
Last week, it was my friend's birthday. We went to eat then watched a movie.
This week I had an event where I was telling a friend that she can definitely get into a great college. My friend is a smart and fun student. My friend was freaking out since my friend didn't get into a program and thought my friend might not get into college. However, I told my friend that they will get in because they are intelligent and to never give up.
That was really sweet of you! I am sure your friend needs the encouragement due to the stress. (:
A little more than a year ago, my cousin gave birth to triplets. Since then, her entire life revolves around her kids and she hardy has any time to do the things she wants to do. To help her out, two other of my cousins and I offered to babysit her energetic one year olds over the weekend so she and her husband could go to dinner and a movie. It was tiring for us but my cousin told me she enjoyed her night which made it all worth it.
Awe I loved reading this story the most. That is so sweet of you to help your cousin! <3 You're doing such a wonderful thing in the world!
That made me smile :)
My sister broke her arm a couple days ago and I cheered her up giving her all the pros of not using her left arm such as washing dishes and she's really happy to have broken her arm now. (:
It was a great idea to help her look at the bright side of her situation as a broken arm is nothing to be joyful about at the beginning. With a change in perspective, you changed her attitude towards her experience.
awwww that's so cute Kristyn!! :) You're such a good sister!
My sister was depressed the other day, so I brought her out to Red Lobster and Yogurtland to cheer her up. It made her day and reminded her a the positive things of life.
Wheres my red lobster & yogurtland?!?! >:(
That sounds dope. It is nice to know that you are a good and caring person that doesn't neglect his relationship with his sister. Very nice!
Not so long ago my sister lost 2 puppies because they were really weak and the doctor said that they weren't going to make it. I tried to help her take care of the other puppies that survived.
Yesterday, we finished practice around six but had to have a leaders meeting afterward. i noticed this girl kept walking in and out and realized she was in my friend's calc study group. Once the meeting ended, they ran out but their ride had already left and so i helped them out by driving them to subway even though it was out of my way. i honestly dont mind helping people because it just brings a sense of happiness to those i help and to myself. Helping others makes the world a better place :)
AWWWW, thats so sweet. Where is my ride ?
Last night, I was in a bad mood because of some personal issues with friends. I called one of my friends and told her I need a talk. She then picked me up and bring me to Boiling Point to eat; she knows food can "heal" me. I felt better afterwards. I am so grateful and satisfied that I have someone who is always on my side and understand me. We would always be there for each other.
friends are always important and always be there for you !!!
aww..sweet friend..Call me next time if there is food. haha
Friends are always there to cheer you up. Your friend sounds like a really great person to go to your time of need.
The day after tomorrow is my little brother's birthday. I am going to make a card and sing a song with my guitar. I have never given one gift to him. I hope he would like it and he could make one for me on my birthday too.
My mom was sick and had a bad mood since Monday. So today i went home and take care her by giving her some medicine and makes her drink a lot of water. I also try to share my funny story with her to make her have a better mood. Then she said that she was hungry, so i made her some soup and rice for her to eat.
I was working Saturday morning at McDonalds and noticed there was a homeless person chilling inside. Then when I was on my break having lunch with my friend, Steven, we decided that we would buy the homeless guy lunch. I bought him a 3 piece mighty wings combo and my friend Steven bought him a 20 piece chicken nuggets. The man was very happy and said he would pray for us.
Here is my Joy Story, a story when we break the ice. Last week, I gave one of my Think Tank member an early halloween gift. I left it in his backpack. Later on that day, I told him on our facebook's Think Tank group that I gave him a surprise gift! After that, the group started to have more conversation. I think because of this, I was able to spread joy to my group. Because of them, I want everyday to be sixth period. I am proud to call them my friends. :D
It must be the best Halloween gift ever because that person didn't know at all. The joy was really wonderful because we didn't stop laughing at all. It was a really great gift that influence the whole group.
Mindy, you are such a nice person!
On Monday, Ms. Sutton told us to write some cards to friends and tell them how much we love them. One of my friend's birthday was coming, and I did not know what to give her as gift. So I decided to create a letter to show how much I love to be her friends these years. I actually created an envelop by myself, and then I made a heart inside with some words. Although her birthday is in next month, I am so excited about her expression when she sees my letter. I am so glad that I have this chance to spread joy to others especially in such a busy year.
I want to do that too!!! thats so happy!!!
I want to do that too! thats so happy!
My joy story. This last week i was going to starbucks to get something to drink and while getting to the cross walk i notice an elderly woman crossing the street carrying big brown paper bags that looking like grocery bags. I didnt take much care to it because you see old people all the time so i looked down at my phone to answer a text and when i looked up i noticed that one of the womans' bags had ripped and all the groceries were all over the street. I ran out into the street and helped her pick almost everything up and walked her to the other side.
Good job Ivan! I always knew you were a kind person, and now someone else knows it too.
Good job Ivan you're so kind.
My best friend have been really upset this week. She is usually a happy person and I was really concerned when she became upset. I tried to cheer her up by telling her jokes, and listening to her problems. I tried to help her resolve her problems and make sure she was okay. I wanted to take away half her burden so she won't be so stressed. She seemed happier now and I am really glad I could help her.
When we were making cards in Ms Sutton's class on Monday, I decided to write one for my friend, whose birthday was coming up. After I was finished, I was too excited and just gave it to her next period. Although it was early, she was happy to receive it and was smiling while reading the letter I wrote her. I am glad I got a chance to make something to show how much I appreciate her.
Lisa, I hope that your friend will appreciate the thought and effort that you put into making that card.
Aww Lisa, that's so kind of you.
Lisa, it is so nice of you. ;)
So every first Saturday, at my church, I an other followers go around the church to pick up trashes. I always feel tired and board. So to make me feel fun I always listen my favorite songs with earphone so I cannot hear the noises or talking around me. So I usually dont say hello or smile to people who passed. But one day I forgot to bring iTouch with me. Then, the day I decide to say hello to the people. And people said hello to me when I said hello. That makes me happy and they were smiling. Some people said "thank you" us. That moment I'm glad that that I can make people happy.
Please tell me if someone find out that there are mistakes in this story. Thank you
My friend has been going through some rough times lately with the people in his life. On top of that, he is ill and does not attend school very often. I make sure to text him everyday asking him how he feels and he knows that he can always open up to me because I will always be there to listen. Although these are small gestures, I know that they help brighten up his day when I joke around because it takes his mind off of his problems.
My friend has been having problem with her body image lately. When we talk, she always complains about how "fat" she thinks she is. I try to make her feel better by pointing out all the good qualities that she have and how even though she might think she is fat, I don't. I also make sure to try to cheer her up by making fun of myself so she can see that not everyone is perfect.
So today, my friend name ask me for help on math HW, as always. It took her very long to understand the concept, but when she finally understand, she was very happy, and wouldn't stop thanking me. Although she ask me every day, but I still enjoy spending my time helping people, it brings joy to myself too.
Stanleyy !! I want to thank you for helping me last year in math class as well ! You are a great friend !! (:
That is very nice of you, Stanley. Helping other people not only make them happy, but also yourself too -- knowing that you have made a difference in their life.
This week, we had a Joyful Monday! We wrorte letters and cards to some people we appreciate. One of my friends who i wrote to really thought it was thoughtful, and in return, i got candy : )
spreading joy pays off.
Two people really needed a dress for homecoming and I had trouble giving it to them. The first dress was completely brand new and I wanted to be the first one to wear the dress but ultimately I let her borrow it because she really needed a dress. When I gave her the dress, she was so elated that I forgot all about my troubles. My other friend wanted to borrow my favorite dress that I was planning to wear for another occasion, but I felt really bad that she couldn't find another dress. So finally I let her borrow the dress and she thanked me so many times over. I guess in the end, I was just happy to help them out!
Nice. That was so cool that you let people wear some of your clothes. I hope you found something to wear too.
Thank you so much Victoria for letting me borrow your dress and even letting me have a backup dress to wear just in case. I really appreciate that you took the time to invite me to your house and help me with homecoming.
Last year, as a gift, I drew portraits of my favorite seniors before they had graduated. Although it took some time and effort, it was completely worth seeing them smile before they left for college.
The last couple of months, my friend was going through a lot of stress and planning for a show for the band. In order to help her, I contacted out of band instructors to help create a show that would make her life so much easier. Now she is leading a the show and everything is going to plan so therefore she was overjoyed that the stress that she left has been lifted.
Man, you band and orchestra leaders are so stressed all the time! Good thing you guys have each other and of course the band and orchestra to back you guys up!
Yesterday, making the cards was a really fun activity. Ms. Sutton was very sad so we decided to make a joyful card for her. It was really funny because our group keep arguing which person will make the best cards. We often take a little peek at each others' card and try to copy them. We helped each other and that was a great time to bond as well. It was the best Monday ever!
I agree. It was a great time of bonding ! We had so much fun on that day and helping each others was the best part.
That seems like a great idea. Everyone should try this. It would make them happy and it would show Ms. Sutton how much we enjoy her class.
My friend was having a very bad day and I let her come over to my house. We talked about what had happened and I was there for her every second. When she was crying I helped her by making her laugh. Through out the end of the day I had cheered her up a little.
You are a very good friend for letting someone else bring out their feelings and just talk about it freely. Its nice to know that someone is always there for you. Keep doing what you are doing!
Yesterday I took the time to visit my freshman teacher and give her a box of chocolate to tell her how much I appreciate her and thank her for all the efforts she had with me. She wondered why especially since she told me she didn't do much work that the recommendation letter was very little. But I appreciated it so much, I just had to thank her in a sweet way!
Haha! i get it sweet!!!! That was very generous of you going out of your way to buy a gift for her and besides the fact she was your teacher, really shows your character. What a beautiful thing you did Eman!!!!!
A couple days ago, my friend was feeling really insecure about his haircut. He was asking how he looked and to give him an honest opinion. I told him it looked great and he shouldn't worry about it. He looked relieved and it seemed like he felt better. Little compliments can have an enormous impact on others and can help make a person's day better.
Recently a friend seemed pretty down and gloomy and when I asked him about it, he wouldn't reply. However, after pestering him enough times, he opened up and told me what was going on. I gave him some tips that might solve the problem and then he wasn't as sad anymore.
This Monday, we were able to make cards to someone we adore! I wrote some to my friends and they were so excited when they received it! I was happy that my cards were able to make someone's day a little better.
oops i wrote period 6..its period 1!
Recently, a friend of mine was sad, so a bunch of my friends and i went over to pick her up, and cheer her up whilst she was in a bad breakup. was nice to see a smile on her after what happend :)
Recently, a friend was feeling under the weather so I took him out to eat his favorite restaurant. He was cheered up after eating since he got to eat his favorite food and since I paid the bill for the both of us.
One of my closet friend goes to a college out-of-state. He's been telling how much he dislikes it over there and awaits the day he comes back to California. He tells me how he is so lonely and how much trouble he has being away from his friends and family here in California. He dreams about the day he comes back to California when winter break comes. He doesn't have friends in that college like he has friends here. My friends and I talk to him everyday over the internet and webcam once in a while. So I thought it'd be a good idea to have my friends and I send him a care package with all the necessities and goodies he enjoys. We also wrote him a letter saying how much we miss him and how it's not the same without him around. We also told him to stay strong and not to give up. We'll be excited when he comes home.
Celine, you are amazing and I am so happy that you are doing this out of your heart. One day, I will follow your footsteps and do the same. Keep on doing your stuff.
My joy story.
On Tuesday during tech theater, Mr.Gillette was helping me do a part of a project that I had to get done for the DTASC competition we have on Saturday. He was showing me how to do a lighting plot on a new program that he had found. I had a lot of questions and he clarified everything that needed it. At the end of class, when most everyone had gone, he turned to me and said, "I'm glad you're doing better." About a month ago, I had gone to him when I was in a very bad place and I had confessed some things that you wouldn't say were very good. But he listened and understood and did his best to help me. Just this month, I told him that I was doing better. It just made me really happy to hear that from someone.
:) Maybe he should see this, know what a great influence he has on you.
My joy story,
I was waiting in line to buy food and i noticed that the person ordering in front of me was paying for the food but dropped her coin pouch. She was scrambling to pick them all up so i helped her pick them up and she was thankful about it but the thing i liked most was that i made her smile which made me smile also.
The job that I work at requires a lot of customer service, but the other day there was a woman who comes in pretty often and she is one of our regulars. She ended up ordering a lot of drinks so of course I gave her a cup-holder so that her drinks would be more convenient for her. But I suppose she ordered a lot more than usual and I asked her if she wanted me to help her carry it out to her car. We usually don't do that and of course the lady declined my offer since she thought it'd be too much work for me and that she can carry it. I'm sure she was capable of carrying it all herself, but why make the poor lady struggle? I just went ahead and helped her carry it all to her car. She really appreciated it and tipped me a few bucks afterwards so I guess we were both happy at the end of the day!
Recently, one of friends experienced troubles in her relationship and she really needed people to console her and guide her through what she should or shouldn't have done. Because she'd already been having bumps on the road prior to this moment, my other friends and I told her what we thought was best for her. After thoroughly thinking through it, she followed through with our advice. On the occasions that I've given her my advice, she expresses how much she values my opinions and thanks me for being there for her. She often tells me what a great person I am, and it's extremely heartwarming to hear that. It's nice being appreciated!
2 days ago, my friend was upset about something. so I decided to take him to this boba place. and I got the chance to cheered him up. It was nice to see him smile after all that rough times
One of my good friends was worried and angry about his recent SAT score. Seeing him mad and distant worried me, but frankly I didn't do anything. But after school one of my other friends as him what's wrong, and he said that everyone was getting a two thousand and above on the SAT and he didn't and he was frustrated. I felt bad for him and told him that the SAT isn't everything, and not to worry too much about it. I also told him that the whole package is what counts, not just one score. After that he was not as mad and a bit happier! :)
On Monday, when we were assigned to write letters, I wrote letters to my close friends from Ynez. I know that they are going through a stressful month and next month will be the most stressful because of UC apps, so I wrote letters to them saying not to worry because once everything is over, it will all be okay. They were extremely grateful for the gesture and one of them gave me a mexican candy with a note. That made me happy as well! We're spreading joy all around one step at a time!
No one wanted to help Jorge take his vocab test and I stepped up and tested him he was full of joy.
Thanks Jose if only the rest of the table, was like you this class would be a better place.
nicde pena thats a good way to spread joy
good job pene i love you
Oh Jose, you have a joyful life! Thank goodness the world has people like you!
A few days ago my nephew came over my house and was sad cause his dad wasn't able to pick him up , so I decided to take care of him and just watch cartoons with him and play with him and he forgot all about his dad not being able to pick him up and he was happy the rest of the day.
The other day at Starbucks one of my co-workers made the wrong drink for a customer. This was during a rush so we were very busy and over saw the customer's complaint. Although i had a lot of other drinks to make in line, i went up to him and asked him what was wrong. I ended up making the correct drink for the customer right away. He was happy i did it so fast and yeah. Even though customers is our first priority on a regular basis and we correct drinks all the time, i still made him happy.
Today in class Jimmy gave me a starburst. I noticed my friend Joey was upset because he had no more and she wanted one. I realized Joey shared her food with me every time she brought some, so I gave her my last piece, bringing her joy.
I heard an interesting joke this week. Why is an atom unreliable? It makes up everything!
The way i spread joy is be loud in the hallway and say random things
i like your story. (;
This happened a while ago, back when I was playing Guild Wars 2. As a guild leader, I lead my guild into the battlegrounds and took a bunch of points. This is an event that occurs randomly inside the game. I did spam the chat to make the guildmates to feel good about the raid and encouraged them to win the battle. I have teamspeak as well, so communicating is easier as we all can talk to another using a mic. At the end, I bought a guild box. This box used up most of my gold in game, but it was worth it. The box is only sold to the guild leaders who have recently won a raid. Each member of the guild receives custom gears, gold, and skins. It was just a wonderful feeling to be able to give my men joy.
I talk to my internet friend, Austin, everyday and we always play games together and i usually encourage the other players to build things and i also help them with the games and give them items they need.
The way i spread joy is by helping my friend out in the soccer games. i always open up for him so he can give me a pass. then he runs and gets open for me and i pass the ball to him so he can take a shot at the goal and score.
That's a very nice thing to do Bladimir
ways i spread joy i keep the peace in my fourth period
On monday I wrote a letter to two of my friends, I know them since my second day at keppel, I never had a chance to write a letter to them until this monday, and it's not because I cannot express my feelings it's because I'm a busy person, but does not point of all this writing. The point is that when I saw them smiling at me, they made me so happy too. I love those girls. They are the best.
How sweet of you !
The incident of joy I'm reporting on this week doesn't involve other people. unlike what you might expect. In fact, the good fortune was that other people weren't around. My sister and my mother being gone was a perfect storm that allowed me to finish my homework. This gives me joy because I like completing my work and getting the grade. This works, right? :D
Unrelatedly, my sister and mother were mostly cooperative when they got back. Which is good on them, I guess. That gave me some level of satisfaction, even if I wouldn't call it joy, if you must involve other people. >_>
This week, one of closest friend did not come to school for the entire week due to family issues. She was feeling sad and I didn't know what I can do to help her. On Monday, Ms. Sutton gave us the opportnity to spread joy by making cards. I've decided to make my friend a "feel better" card. I wrote a little message inside and delivered it to her after school. She smiled and I smiled too.
At the beginning of the week, I decided to write a little note to some of my friends thanking them for being in my life and for being the awesome individuals they are. It was a spontaneous act of mine. that I wish I executed more frequently. Nevertheless, my friends were pleased with the notes and told me that it had brightened up their day.
That was a very thoughtful thing to do. (:
One of my friends and I started to talk with each other more often this year. Even though we have known each other for a while and we have same classes, we never really chatted about other stuffs other than homework and classes. So this year, somehow, we just grew closer and started to talk with each other more, not just about homework and classes, but also about our problems and our thoughts about other stuffs unrelated to school. My friend told me that she felt a bit relieved and enlightened when she talked with me. Knowing that my listening and my words have encouraged and helped her makes me very elated. Being there for your friends -- listening to them, giving them advice, and being through the good and the bad times -- is the best gift that someone can give.
Having a friend always there for me is something I cherish very much and never take for granted! Thanks for reminding me how special my friends are! I'm sure your friends are too! Thank you for your post! The last sentence made me smile! :)
I gave my friend Ivanna the card we made in class to spread joy. It was telling her how good of a friend she is and I hope she's successful in softball and I wished her good luck on her game.
I stayed up till 12 midnight to wish my friend a happy birthday to spread joy. I also made her a card and made sure everyone knew it was her birthday. She was very happy and she said she had a good day.
Recently, one of my best friends was upset about being alone in New Jersey. She could not make any friends in her class, and she was tired of doing part-time in the local Chinese restaurant. I tried to cheer her up by chatting with her online and having FaceTime with her. I told her my funny stories, and promised to visit her during Christmas. I also called up some other friends to talk to her and encourage her. Finally, she's happy now, and she told me that she won't give up herself because she's so loved and blessed.
I remember you telling me about this. Your so far from her yet your able to continue communications with her. She is lucky to have you. Tell her to cheer up for mee. ADD OIL! ^____________^
one day one of my friends was going through a lot of issues. I felt bad because I didn't know what to do. So I made her, her favorite dessert and brought it to her and I told her how much I appreciated her and it made her feel better
One of my friends let to college this year and she does not like the environment there. She told me she felt very lonely and missed everyone. So as often as i can i call her up on oovoo so we can chat and she tells me about her day and her homework. Every now and the i tell her to join things but she prefers just talking to me than going out. I feel like i have made her happier and she makes me happy.
Every day right after school, I go over to my boyfriend's house to spend time with him. Because of school, I can't see him very often. And the fact that he will be leaving for the military too adds another time constraint. We take opportunity of every minute we can to see each other. We don't do much, but just be with each other, tell each other of our day, watch some TV, and take naps together. Just being with him and round him makes me really happy. It makes me happier to know that I make him happy, too.
aww hope you can spend as much time with him as you can before he leaves for the military. it's great that you guys are both so happy to be with each other!
My 2nd Joy story, because I just can't help myself.
(See Ms. Sutton, you're spreading joy by getting us to spread joy! It's an infinite cycle!)
On Monday in class, Ms. Sutton gave us paper and told us to make a joy card for someone. I received one from my best friend, but what's funny was I didn't find it till the next morning, attached inside of my planner. It was a REAL surprise when I opened up to my tabbed page to find a blue decorated card from her. She thanked me for being her friend and described me in some pretty awesome adjectives. She didn't have to sign it; I knew who she was. I keep it inside my planner and just open that up when I'm alone and don't feel the greatest.
Oh Daphne. You cutie patootie.
A couple days ago, My best friend wasn't quite acting like himself. I asked him what was wrong and he said he was fine. My intuition told me he wasn't so I continued to question. Finally he told me he was very stressed about college. The next day, I brought him his favorite snacks with a note I had written especially for him. I simply put, " Keep Smiling! " Later on at cheer practice, his mood had changed dramatically. He gave me a giant hug and said, " Thank you for always being there. Your the best. " One note and a bag of snacks can always re-assure someone of your love.
After a race, I went to the bathroom to wash up. I see two girls from another school and one of them didn't look so well. She had her head on the sink, and i thought she was throwing up and her friend was holding her water or something. So I hurried to get some toilet paper for the girl. Luckily, she wasn't throwing up but she did feel nauseous. I got some more paper for her and they thank me afterwards. The girl rested a bit before we went back outside to our teams. We had a nice chat and got to know each other.
This week I found out that something horrible had happened to my friend. Even thought I could not help her get over what had occurred, I did my best to make her life easier by getting her whatever she needed, whether it was someone to talk to or if it was getting her homework. I did my best to help her adjust to what has happened in her life.
Because of some misunderstandings, my friend and I haven't talked to each other for a whole week. Yesterday, I finally mustered up my courage and started a conversation with him. I found out he's been having a terrible week this week so i comforted him and bought him food. He told me he felt a lot better after talking to me.
During my weekend, i went shopping with my mom. As we were walking in, i opened the entrance door for a mother of 3, with one still sitting in a stroller. She said 'Thank you' with a smile on her face. She also mentioned how tough it was raising 3 kids on her own. She was being a great mother, i could see. I was glad to be helpful. That's my joy story~ ^_^
It was last Friday, my friend got a bad grade on her test. She came to me and talk to me about it, and I told her I did bad too. Do well next time, we all have the time that didn't do well. =D
"High five, I failed too!" Haha, that's totally me.
Last Friday night, as my best friends and I are going back from dinner, we started to open up our heart about this certain subject. One of them started to tear up before she said that she doesn't want to go back home just yet. As much as I want to go home and sleep, I kept driving, so that we could have more time to talk things out. Even though it was super late and probably illegal to drive at that time, I felt like it was the right thing to do and I'm glad I did it.
During a group project, my friends and I went to In n Out to get burgers and fries for dinner. I called my siblings and asked if they wanted something. :) The food was good.
My friend got into a fight with his parents and he complained how his parents never do anything for him. He spoke to me about it and I told him all the wonderful things that his parents do for him that he has taken for granted. He felt a lot better and rekindle his relationship with his parents.
Good job, Michael! Such a wonderful thing to do!
My friend was feeling very bad for a decision that she made this week, I reassured her and told her everything was going to be alright and was there for her throughout the entire time. Everything was resolved in the end and she was very happy and thanked me.
I have a lot of friends that go to college now, but they thought it would be all fun and games until they realized how much work they have to do, now they're all stressing out over writing papers and taking tests. One of my friend's hasn't got sleep in days and so I went to go visit unannounced and brought them some goods and took them out of their dorm to try and cheer them up, and now they're very appreciative of that and they said they wouldn't forget it.
They other day I was walking into the school and I saw a wallet on the floor so I picked it up and opened it. It had money and an I.D, and I saw that it belonged to a freshman so I took it student services even though I was going to be late to class. I returned it and the dean was there and he gave me a v.i.p lunch pass, but I don't eat lunch so I asked for a hall pass instead. I wasn't doing it for the reward, I was doing it because I thought of how many other students would have taken the money for themselves.
One of my friends is having some family trouble. For our group project, I took up some of her responsibilities so that she will have more time to rest and gather herself.
One of my friends was feeling unhappy about his crush because he was confused. I encouraged him and gave him some tips and things to work do, and also some inspiration, because i want him to not worry about it so much and he was much happier after our talk after practice in the shower.
One of my very close friends was having a rough week because of the homecoming pep rally. She was in charge of the event, and as a drill captain, she had to choreograph the moves for the pep rally. I tried comforting her in every way possible because she didnt specifically tell me what struggles she was going through. Finally, on the day of Homecoming Pep Rally, I saw a smile on her face because of the stress being released. I was happy that she was no longer worrying about the choreograph so i decided to get her a starbucks drink without her knowing. I left a cup of starbucks drink in front of her house with a note saying (Gift From God). As one of the close friends, she figured it was me by the next morning and she returned to me with one of my favorite starbucks drinks.
One of my friends was having a rough day during halloween. She got made fun of because some people had said that her costume was "ugly" or "unattractive. It hurt me to see her being down on herself and it allowed me to take on a mission to make her feel better about herself. I walked down the hall and I screamed "DAMNNNN whos this cute girl right here!" it put a smile on her face and that contributed to putting a smile on my face. That is how i spread joy yesterday on halloween.
A few days ago, I noticed that my mom was stressed out due to a rough day at work. Although she was hesitant to do so at first, I was able to convince her to take a nap and relax for a bit. While she was asleep, I did all the chores that she would normally do, such as washing the plates or vacuuming the house. I tried to finish as much as I could so my mom could take a break for the rest of the day. When she woke, she immediately noticed what I had done and couldn't thank me enough. She was relieved that she could take a break, even if it was just for the afternoon. It made me feel nice to know that I could put a smile on my mom's face with such a small action.
Quite some time ago, I saw this girl drop a whole lot of money in the hallways. I saw these two others girls pick it up and stick it in their pockets. The girl who dropped her money went the opposite direction I was supposed to go but I ran over to her and let her know 1. she dropped her money and 2. Who had it. She was very thankful to me and promptly ran over to the girls who returned her money. :D
I volunteer at a hospital, I job description is social with patients, help out the nurses, pass out the water, give patients puzzles, movies, and etc. I went to a patients room and asked him if he wanted to watch the Harry Potter #1 movie. Unfortunately at the time, the VCR player wasn't working at the time, so me and some other volunteers got together and performed the harry potter scenes for him. His happiness was the highlight of the staffs day.
I recently was at a convention for Comic Con with my friend. We were having coffee in front of Starbucks, and from observation, there were very limited seats. This man in a wheel chair was ordering a beverage, and it looked like he ordered a bottle of juice, a latte, and a cup of ice. Like I said he was in a wheel chair, struggling to keep all of his items in place. In the back of my mind I was admiring him from afar because he was incredibly skilled to balance everything in his lap without dropping anything. I took the initiation to go over to that man to inform him that I was about to leave and if he needs a table, I can reserve it for him. He kindly smiled at me and was like, "Oh no, it's fine!" I asked him again to make sure that he was alright with everything, and he agreed. So then, I said, "Okay haha, have a nice day!" With a cheesy big smile he gave me, he kindly said back, "Thank you, you have a nice day as well!"
I recently found out that my bro back in China is having a hard time about everything. I checked his QQ status and realize that its kind of like a suicide letter, then i talked to him about it, and kind of save him from falling off a cliff, he understood and felt positive about life. Life is short, we need to enjoy and take advantage of it.
Last Saturday, my friend and I went to the mall. First of all, I was not very dead tired from the SAT that morning and I wanted to cheer myself up by spending some quality time with my bestie. Spending time with her, even though it was limited, really relieved my stress and made me really happy. I just hope we can hang out again soon because that day was really fun and we haven't hung out in a long time (:
I realized my brother was kind of stressed and feeling down so I decided to talk to him. Once I asked he happily told me what was going on with him and he seemed to feel better. In the future i will have to be better about talking to him and making sure he's happier.
Write something about yourself. No need to be fancy, just an overview.
