Too Soon for Jeff by Marilyn Reynolds

1.In this section, I have read about people make mistakes based a time sensitive situation. Jeff, the main character in which this book was told in, he made a mistake that costed not only him but a girl he onced love to give up much of their live to take care of a baby.
2. He will probably still want to go to college but he will also have to juggle handling a baby. I feel that his still should be apart of his child's life and be a figure authority.
3. He makes up his mind and he will take care of the baby no matter what. Plus he will love the baby unconditionally and take care of the baby because it is their responsibility to keep it nurtured and healthy.

Making mistakes can really alter your life, lets say that you are a really smart academic makes one mistake in school and his whole life is messed up because he won't go to his dream college. Mistakes can really mess you up

Andrew L. Period 5
2/8/2013 02:42:49 pm

The time pressured decisions as described are clearly much hindered and corrupted decisions made at the spur of the moment. Clearly time sensitive decisions are clearly not as thoroughly thought out and may have some side effects of unwanted results. Yet with decided selections, might come the many obstacles to face by agreeing to do whatever at the moment.

Aron I. Period 5

I agree with your response to number 2. I also think that he will go to college and try to take care of the baby at the same time. Jeff will probably have to balance the two things.

An H., Period 5

I feel that Jeff should take responsibility to handle the baby, but he shouldn't just focus entirely on that either. Even with the responsibility, he should have time to do other stuff like he wanted to do before the baby situation happened.

Jeffery W., Period 5

I think the author of the story was trying to portray how it is tough for a person in college or soon to be in college is dealing with if they have to support a baby.

Aren Lim

I like how you described what was going on in the story. I like how you explained what situation Jeff was going under, and the struggle he was hoing under.

In this book everyone makes a terrible mistake. Christy gets excited when having a baby but after the baby came out she doesn't want him anymore and Jeff now wanted the baby when before he wanted an abortion or adoption.

I like your response in the second question a lot. It sounds like the author does really get a point across with making mistakes and how you are responsible for your own actions and what you started.

so this week, we are reading the book ender's game, it's written by Orson Scott Card. in this week's reading, the most important moment that i read is that ender knows that although his monitor has gone, but the government staff is still following him. i think next thing will happen is the government staff will let the ender join the school. the biggest change in this week's reading is that in the past that i dont know that governmental staff followed ender after his monitor has gone. i think they still follow ender because they think ender can be the future general and protect human being.

This week, my reading group is wrapping up our book, “The Child called It” by Dave Pelzer. The most important moment in this section is when Dave prayed for help from God. This marks Dave’s feeling toward “The House”, of that he does not want to live there anymore and is asking for help. I believe Dave reaches his limit of keeping forgive mother. For almost a third of the book, Dave keeps thinking that one day mother will regret for what she has done to him. However, reality has proven that Dave’s mother probably will never come to the kind and beautiful mother she is before. Dave’s prayer shows that he has given up on naïve wish of mother coming back and is now hoping to escape from mother and “The House”. As foreshowed in the beginning of the book, Dave eventually is taken into foster care by the help of his teachers and local policemen.

This is a really emotional and strong book to read. I don't think the mother will regret what she has done because she is used to abusing Dave and her mind is set to that. She cant seem to feel his sufferings as in empathy even if Dave is her own child.

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
3) I think one of the most important changes of this section of the story was when how The Gamemakers decided to change one of the most important rule in The Hunger Games, and that was the rule of only allowing one winner, which was shockingly modified, having that the games were allowed two winners only if both of these winners arose from the same district.
2) I believe that soon, Katniss will face an extremely difficult obstacle of having to attempt to defeat Cato and win the games while having to also protect the crippled and wounded Peeta.
1) I believe that one of the most important moments of this reading section occurred when Katniss discovered Peeta's whereabouts and starts to care and tend to his needs. Here, it shows much character development and the development of a relationship between the two. This is also where Katniss becomes deliberately confused about her own feelings.

Kristin W., per. 1
2/8/2013 03:42:33 pm

I think that is a really important part of the book, because if The Gamemakers didn't change the rules then there would only be one winner and the relationship between the two main characters never would have developed. It is a very key point in the book when they begin to work together and they realized how they could get more support from their sponsors to survive.

Art Medina Period 1

Yang Y., Per 2

I like how they changed the rule in the end so that Peeta and Katniss both became winners. If they did not, then they both would have killed themselves with the berries and there would be no winders. It was also a good thing that Katniss found Peeta when he was injured because he might not have survived if she wasn't there.

In the book SHUT UP! By Marilyn Reynolds, Mario and Eddie are still act Tio Hector's house arguing with Carmen about Denton being a molester. The important moment of this week's reading was that Eddie was finally able to provide an insight of what Denton has done to him through drawings. This finally brought conclusive proof to Carmen and Tio Hector that Denton has molested him. What I believe will happen next is that Denton will be arrested and put away for a long time. The most important change in this week's reading is that Maria is finally back to show Mario and Eddie that everything is alright. Also, it showed that Carmen was blinded by love and believed whatever Denton was saying over Mario. Maria was brought back because of the email telling Maria about everything which brought her back and Carmen found out the truth about Denton by Eddie's drawings.

A Child Called “It” by Dave Pelzer
In this section, the most important idea is David’s lost of his only protection, his dad. Despite the cruelty of his mom’s mistreatments, David has always found comfort in his dad’s rare company at home. After dad leaves, mom starves David for ten days. She makes sure that David can’t find any source of food to survive on. What is worse is that she also taunts a starving child with food, telling him to finish leftover food in two minutes.
I think that David’s tortures will be continued, depending on his mom’s unpredictable temperament.
The most important change in this section is the departure of David’s dad which signifies a crucial turning point in David’s life. It happens because he can no longer bear the stressful events at home and because he is so helpless. Whenever he tries to argue with his wife, he looses.

Johanna F. Per 1

I also believe that David will keep getting abused from his mother. He isn't getting the help that he needs and father isnt doing much either. Also like you said when father tries to argue or have a conversation with the mother she ends up going crazy and snapping on him.

I agree with your post because David can be protected from his mother’s abuse when he stays close to his father. Without the presence of his father, his mother will only treat him in more violent ways.

In this week’s reading of “If you loved me” by Marilyn Reynolds, Lauren discovers that the driver of the mysterious red Honda is in fact her father, who had abandoned her as a child. Because of this, I feel that her father will became a more prominent character in the story and become more involved in Lauren’s life. This change in the storyline was the most important since it added another character into the small group of people that Lauren truly trusted. In my opinion, the author decided to bring her father into her life in order to shift the reader’s attention away from Tyler, whom Lauren just broke up with. Upon finding out that he was watching her and wanted to be a part of her life, Lauren and her father went out for coffee, establishing an immediate relationship between the two characters.

Reading a book by Marilyn Reynolds as well, I think IF YOU LOVED ME sounds like a very interesting book to read. It sounds appealing to teenagers like us. Perks of being a wall flower by Stephen Chbosky.
The main idea for this week's reading is mostly about the important of relationships. Charlie recently fixed his relationships with all of his friends while Sam had a break up with Craig for cheating on her. It goes to show that in order to maintain a stable relationship, one has to try on both sides and know exactly what to do if anything goes wrong.
I believe what happens next is that Charlie and Sam will eventually talk about their feelings for each other before Sam goes to college and hopefully they get together.
The most important change in the section is Charlie's confidence because he had the courage to tell Sam how he feels and not want to take advantage of her.

Yen Tran, Period 1
2/8/2013 05:13:01 am

I agree that a healthy relationship requires effort from both partners. There should never be a dominant person in a relationship. Problems should be solved together; a real relationship runs on love, communication, and commitment.

Vivian H., Period 2
2/10/2013 03:24:24 pm

After reading this section of the book, I was relieved that Charlie was able to work things out with his friends. It must've been hard for him to walk around and be at school without the people closest to him. I also agree with your perspective on relationships. It's kind of interesting how Charlie's point of view on Craig may have forshadowed their break-up. From what I remember, Charlie didn't see eye-to-eye on Craig's perspective of Sam's beauty captured through a lens.

Derek Ing
2/12/2013 03:19:55 pm

I think you bring up a very valid point on relationships. I believe that it is truly important for relationships to be kept throughout your years. I think this is a good example because it shows that the character Charlie is coming out of his shell and starting to gain more confidence not only through his friends but also in the high school. This change relates to the whole story because it shows the progress that he is making as an individual.

Shut Up!
This week the most important moment was when Carmen came to Redville looking for Eddie because Mario took Eddie with him so Denten, Carmen's perverted boy friend who made Eddie do sexual things to and with him, could not hurt Eddie anymore. Carmen showed everyone her ring, her wedding ring that Denten proposed to her in the morning. She got furious and made Mario gave her the keys to La Bamba, which Mario did not. From what I have read, Mario will do everything to keep Eddie from going back with Carmen, because he has done everything to keep Eddie away from Denten. The most important change is when Carmen came to Redville trying to bring Eddie back to her apartment and live happily ever after.

The most important moments in the text this week was the appearance of Lauren's father and Tyler's betrayal. I think Lauren will calm down finally and listen to Tyler and Shawna's explanation, but I don't the reason would be reasonable enough for Lauren to forgive them. However, betrayal will be another lesson in her life, and she will learn to reciprocate her father's love. The most dramatic change was the perfect love relationship between Lauren and Tyler. Lauren caught Tyler cheating with Shawna in the house of Habit of Humanity. Reasons were never given because she never allowed Tyler to explain the situation.

Shut Up! by Marilyn Reynolds

In this weeks reading the important section was when Mario decides to drive down to Redville with his younger brother (Eddie), where his Tio and Tia live in order to keep Eddie safe from Denton. I think that Carmen will be furious because she's going to think Mario is an even worse influence for Eddie because he left without informing her. It will cause bigger problems for Eddie because all he was doing was trying to help his younger brother. But on the positive side they'll be safer in Redville because his relatives will try to protect them once they find out what has been happening and what Denton has done to Eddie. The important change in the section was how Mario left with Eddie because he was being sexually assaulted by Denton.

In the book "Sold' by Patricia Mccomick the most important moment was when Lamshmi was sent to work at a happy house. She was forced to work there so she can pay back her debt. I think that Lamshmi will be saved by someone one day because there was a part when an American came to visit her and he asked her if she wants to leave this place and go to a clean place. She was too scared to talk back and so the American gave her a card to call him whenever she want to leave. I don't think Eddie would ever leave Mario, they have to stick together until their mom returns. Here you have a child who completely trusts another person and relies on them for everything who then has his trust betrayed by a close person. I am reading "Shut Up!" by Marilyn Reynolds and the most important topic this week is speaking up for the defenseless. The main character Mario is having trouble deciding what to do about his little brother being sexually molested. Although Mario personally witnessed the acts, he is hesitant to speak up because he promised his little brother he wouldn't, and he doesn’t want them to be put into foster homes. In addition, the offender threatened to kill both of them if they told anyone. Mario is stuck between telling an adult, and keeping him and his brother together. Their mom is off fighting a war in Afghanistan, and Mario has to make a big decision. I think Mario will do the responsible thing and find a way to tell an adult, simultaneously keeping him and his brother united and safe from the offender. The most important change was that Mario took his brother to a relatives’ house far away. He did this to keep his brother away from the offender.

1. In The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky, the most important moments in this section would be how Charlie stuck with Patrick the whole time that Patrick was "coping".

2. I think that Brad will never being able to change what happened between him an Patrick. Patrick will probably never forgive Brad because of his betrayal and Charlie will probably end up being conflicted on how to react to Patrick being so depressed all the time.

3. The most important change would be when Brad openly condemns Patrick to being ostracized by the rest of the school by calling him a fag, even when Patrick does nothing to reveal Brad's secret. When Brad's dad caught Patrick and Brad together, he beat Brad and so in order to keep up appearances, Brad ostracizes Patrick.

Patrick is so crazy. He smokes, he drinks, he probably does drugs, but he's so kind. There's a misconception where the good people are the ones that practice abstinence or whatever goody-two-shoes things that some people do that makes them seem so perfect. How wrong that is. I don't know why I didn't consider Patrick's reaction to Brad's hypocritical comment before, but now that I've thought about it, the fact that Patrick doesn't spill Brad's sexuality to the whole school says a lot about his character.

The Lost Boy by Dave Pelzer

I think the most important part of this section was when mother gave the chance to David to leave the house. Father was telling his mom how it's wrong of her to treat him the way she has. David took a while to leave the house, he just stood there while his mother was telling him to get out. I was happy that he took the chance and left the house. I think mother will go down the street or the city just to look for him. She wouldn't let him go because she loves to torture David. The most important change in this section is when David kept walking. He didn't stop and turn around and go back home or anything, he just kept walking far far away as he can. He arrived at a bar, and some man called the police officer to get David, he left with a box of pizza. I dont understand why the father lied when he went to pick up david at the police station, he protected mother and not David. I think throughout the book David shows to be more decisive and courageous than his own father. Father chooses to protect the mother over the child could possibly mean that he loves her or simply is frightened by her. I think readers feel more angry than sad sometimes.

I think that the father was trying to just protect his wife from harm. His mother gave him the chance to leave the house because she thought that something was wrong, but he didn’t take that chance because that shows how much he cares for her. If I was David, I think that I would have done the same thing because leaving a parent is something that is hard to do and may cause regret later on in life.

This week, in the book Shut Up by Marilyn Reynolds, Mario and Eddie move to Redville because of all of the recent drama happening to Eddie. They wish to rid of all the things that has happened and would wish that they could somehow resolve this mess. Their Tio Hector welcomes them to stay as they try to help along with the situation. However, Carmen calls them and resorts to her excuse that Mario is a kidnapper who steals Eddie from her just as she is about to get married to Denton. Maria fortunately reads the email and immediately calls Mario to talk to him stating that she will be back within the next Sunday of that time. Mario is grateful for the news but is still worried about Eddie brushing his teeth knowing that he can’t get rid of his past.

In chapters 16-20 of If You Loved Me by Marilyn Reynolds, the most important moment was when Jack told his daughter Lauren about how her mom Marcia died and that her mom really did love Lauren. Jack revealed a touching story about how Marcia tried her best to protect Lauren in the explosion and risked her own life to save her baby daughter’s life. Up until this point in the book, Lauren has antagonized her mother, saying “If she loved me” she wouldn’t have done drugs and taken better care of her as a baby. Discovering the true story and feelings of her previously druggie parents, Lauren has a change of heart and mind because it goes against everything she thought she knew. Lauren was so focused on hating her mother that the truth about her love caught Lauren off guard. I think Lauren will forgive her father and spend more time with him in the future (and in the next couple of chapters).

This week I was reading The Hunger Games. The most important moments are when Katniss and Peeta are struggling to stay alive, especially when faced with genetically altered tributes and Cato. The outcome of these events will determine whether or not Katniss and Peeta will win. I predict that Cato will die, and both Katniss and Peeta will survive. The most important change in this section is when Katniss discovers that the mutated wolves were actually the dead tributes. This really showed how cruel the capital is and proves that they don't really care about the outer districts. The hungers games is exactly that to the people in the capital--a game. However, for many of the tributes, winning the games makes the difference between life or death, even before they entered. Katniss discovered that the wolves were the past tributes by recognizing the defining traits of the past tributes, their hair color and eyes.

Your prediction of the story's plot sounds very plausible. Indeed, capital is cruel. Human capital, which includes creativity and human labor, allows the entire workforce to function. Natural capital-- resources provided by nature-- allows humans to dwell on Earth and thrive. Although natural capital is free, people continue to fight over it and regard it with high value. Akin to how the characters of The Hunger Games behaved, humans in real life would commit atrocious acts to get what they want.

In the book “1984” by George Orwell, Winston Smith is now on his way to rebelling against Big Brother and his fellow party members. The most important idea that was presented in this week’s reading was about the control of information and power within the society in which Winston lived. “He, who controlled the present, controlled the past. He who controlled the past controlled the future.” This phrase was a key component to the party’s influence over its populace. Because they controlled the past information, they could easily tweak the numbers and details for their own needs in the future. I think Winston will get fairly close to getting caught by the thought police because he is now taking it upon himself to search for other rebels within the working party. This most important change in this week’s reading was the relationship that developed between Julia and Winston because she had simply passed him a note saying “I love you.” This was most likely because Julia had seen Winston on the wrong side of town one night, while he was visiting the antique shop be bought the diary at.

This book demonstrates people abusing their powers. Big Brother is constantly changing the past because they do not want their people to know the truth. Big Brother want people to live in ignorance and basically be robots following orders. Winston finally realizes that he does not want to lived a controlled life. His love for Julia shows that he indeed is capable of having feelings. This book is trying to say that people should not live in ignorance, rather people should be intelligent and aware of their society issues to prevent corruption and inequality.

In this week's reading of "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" by Stephen Chbosky, the most important moment would be Brad calling Patrick a “faggot” and starting a fight with him. I think Charlie will jump into the fight and help Patrick since Brad’s football friends jumped into the fight. Even though Charlie isn’t on the best terms with any of his friends, he will still help out when his friends need him. I think there will be consequences for all of those involved. I don’t think Charlie’s parents will be happy but they might be proud for helping his friend. 2. I think Steve live the rest of his life remembering this event and look back at the decisions he made and remember what his own defense attorney saw in him after she defended and saved him from prison.
3. Steve was caught involved in a murder and robbery because he was friends with the people in the robbery. The robbers claim Steve is involved with the robbery and acted as a lookout. The book I’m reading is The Help by Kathryn Stockett. The most important idea in this week’s reading would probably be when Mister Johnny, Miss Celia’s husband, caught Minny cleaning their house. Minny and Miss Celia both thought Mister Johnny wouldn’t like the idea of a maid working for them, especially when it’s in secret. However, Minny and Miss Celia’s presumption proved to be wrong when Mister Johnny was completely okay with Minny working for them. He didn’t even mind that someone was working for them. In fact, he was only worried about why Miss Celia felt the need to hide this from him and make it seem like she’s doing all the work. This is important in my opinion because it shows that we shouldn’t assume things. We should prepare ourselves for anything that could happen but we don’t need to psych ourselves up for the worse; because that will only make our lives harder than it should be.
I think the most important change in this section is when Minny finally agreed to tell Miss Skeeter her story because what they’re doing at that time, in that kind of a setting, is like breaking through the segregations and barriers put up between the colored people and the white people.
I think what will happen next is that Minny will be nicer to Miss Skeeter when she realizes that maybe all Miss Skeeter wants to do is tell a story. I also think more helps will agree to tell their stories because Aibileen and Minny might be able to convince them, especially when Aibileen's prayers are supposedly very strong.

In this week's reading of "Telling" by Marilyn Reynolds, Cassie's parents find out what is happening because her cousin, Lisa, gets scared after a talk with Fred and tells her mother. The situation blows up in Cassie's face and for some reason, she feels guilty for what happened. The most important part of this week's reading was when Cassie finally confronted her mother. They had a heart to heart and their shaky relationship seemed to be better after this. I think what will happen next is that Fred will go to jail, maybe because Cassie presses charges against him. I believe the most important change in this section was Cassie's attitude towards her mother. Instead of hating her and feeling like she couldn't understand her, Cassie came to see her mother as a loving guardian. The pivotal moment when this happened was when Fred's wife came over attempting to attack Cassie and Cassie's mother sprayed her with a garden hose until she left.

Both of these events have significant impacts on Lauren. Tyler cheating on her leaves her completely heartbroken, to the point where she refuses to go to school. I thought Tyler's actions were foreseen because it is apparent throughout the book that he has trouble containing his urges and has on numerous occasions pressured Lauren to have intercourse. The girl, Shawna, went to Tyler out of vulnerability. Shawna was constantly bullied in school and it only made sense that she fell in love with the only person who was nice to her. 2. I think that Charlie will grow more from his socially awkward shell and be more open to making more friends. He has already grown because from the beginning he didn't have any friends entering high school, but now he has more friends than he ever had before.

3. The most important change was that Charlie and his sister's relationship grew. They were really distant but after a few events, they became closer. Lauren of course gets mad at her boyfriend and shuts out the world in her anger. She also revives her anger at her parents for doing drugs and leaving her. At first Lauren is mad at him for leaving but when he explains the drugs, an explosion, and just wanting his child to have a better life, Lauren reconsiders her thoughts on her parents. Jack also persuades Lauren to give her boyfriend a chance to explain his actions.

Then to ameliorate Lily's situation, August brings upon Lily her own very situations. Many of which had etched into Lily's mind the subjective views about her own mother. The storytelling helped to reveal to Lily the truth to whether or not her mother really loved her or not. Foreshadowing future events of such Lily's grievances over her mother and dubious thoughts about whether her mother was really sincere about motherly love or not. This will lead to the developed commiseration over Lily's mother's death. Most of the maids were scared, but after an incident, most of the maids were convinced by Minny to help Ms. Skeeter in writing her book about the truth of the colored maids and their experiences.

2. I think at least some or one of the maid will reject the interview. Saying how Ms. Skeeter is not going to be helping them, but just using them to write her book. No one would buy the book and such because it would be about colored peoples' experience about being a white persons' maid.

3. The most important changes would be Medgar Evers being assassinated and Yule May being arrested for stealing a ruby ring from Miss Hilly to try to pay for her sons', the twins intuition. Throughout most of the book the most important issue is sex trafficking, but during this week's reading an American man came to Lakshmi. He asked her if she wanted to leave to America to be free. He showed her pictures of other girls he had brought to America. She was very intrigued by what he was saying and said some of the words she knew in English. He said he would be back before he left. Also, there was a police raid at the Happiness House. The girls were terrified, the place was trashed, and Shahanna was taken. 3. The most important change in this book so far is Brad's treatment of Patrick. In this weeks reading of "Monster," by Walter Dean Myers, the most important issue is proving Steve Harmon innocent. Since racism is such a crucial problem in this book, many people assume he is a monster just because he is black. However, the lawyers of Harmon and another guy who was involved in the robbery, are now questioning another guy that was involved in the crime. This man was offered a deal with his jail time if he told the police who else was involved. I think that this guy is going to end up paying for his actions. He cannot commit a crime and be let go just for helping the cops find the other suspects. I also think that Steven Harmon will be proved innocent because his lawyer is making the guy who is getting let free look really bad. Harmon's lawyer is very good at her job and I think that she will be able to convince the jury that Harmon is innocent. The most important change this section is that now all the lawyers are questioning this guy who admitted to participating in the crime. They are making this guy look really bad, instead of making Harmon and the other suspect look bad. All of this happened because the guy who admitted to the crime and told the police the name of everybody else involved, would be offered a deal if he revealed the names of the other people who participated.

The book I'm currently reading is "The Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins. The most important ideas/moments in this section were Katniss getting the medicine for Peeta and their time together in the cave.I think they will have to leave their safe haven-the cave- soon because the games would be too dull if there wasn't more action than the two of them just spending time together. I think the most important thing in this section was how close Katniss and Peeta got. Peeta was in love with Katniss from the very beginning but that wasn't how she felt for him. And the star-crossed lovers thing was an act they put on. But their time in the cave seems to blur the distinctions between acting and reality. It seems that Katniss is falling for Peeta too- by all their intimate conversations and kissing.

In this week’s reading of Shut Up by Marilyn Reynolds, the most important moment is that Carmen comes up to Mario and Eddie’s uncle, Hector’s place to look for them. She intends to take Eddie back because she is his legal guardian. The whole family of Hector tries to stop her and finds out what happened to the two brothers in order to protect them. However, Eddie will not say a word and Mario can’t tell them anything because he has promised Eddie not to tell anybody. I think what will happen next is that everything will be clear and they won’t let Carmen take Eddie back, because I can tell how Hector’s family loves the Mario and Eddie and they know what kind of person Carmen is. The most important change in this section is that Eddie is beginning to reveal the secret through his drawings as it has signs in them and the problem should be solved soon.

"SHUT UP" by Marilyn Reynolds
The most important moments that has happened so far is that Eddie and Mario run away from their home and try to hide at their Uncle's house. They try to make up things so that they can avoid going back home and seeing Carmen's perverted boyfriend. Based on what has happened, I think that Carmen will eventually find out where they are hiding at. Once she does, Mario will probably have a hard time trying to explain why they really left home to his Uncle and Aunt. In addition, I think Carmen will try to make Mario look like the lost and bad person in this situation just so that she can take little Eddie back home without Mario. Overall the most important change in this section is that Mario and Eddie are now getting other people involved in the situation. Since they had to explain why they left home, many of their secrets will eventually spill out for others to understand.

THE HELP by Kathryn Stockett

1. This section focuses a lot on getting over the mindset of segregation and the power of women. There are social norms that Skeeter does not want to succumb to. She wants to help colored people at the risk of being ostracized from everyone else. The maids want to cooperate with Skeeter at the risk of losing their jobs.

2. I believe that Skeeter will be able to write her book and the maids will not get in trouble. Although many knows who has written it, it cannot be proved. Skeeter will make it as a writer and the maids will keep their jobs.

3. The most important change is the mindset of the maids. Initially, they were scared. However, they were able to break free of their mindset and realized that if they wanted change they needed to be bold. They needed to stand up for what they believed in, in order for a better life

Lakshmi is a 13 year old girl that come from a poor family in Nepal. Lakshmi’s step father is a lazy man who gambles and does not work. Lakshmi’s family can be in better shape, but the problem is her stepfather always gambles away all their money. Her mother says that it is better to have a man of the house that is a gambler than have no man of the house. When Lakshmi’s mom finally sold her gold earring to pay the rent, her stepfather took the extra money to gamble and came back with a useless motorcycle. This shows how useless of a man her stepfather is and it is sad that Lakshmi has to respect him. Like the title of the book, SOLD, I believe that Lakshmi will get sold into prostitution due to her stepfather’s debt. Lakshmi will eventually get sold because Lakshmi’s step father always eyes her like she is an object that he can get money from. The most important change in the story is when their city had a drought and then a monsoon. Unlike the other fathers, Lakshmi’s stepfather did not build anything to prevent their crops from being flooded. These natural disasters caused their crops to be destroyed along with their only source of income. This event will probably will cause Lakshmi’s stepfather to sell her into prostitution to quell his horrible desire to gamble.

I am currently reading the book SHUT UP by Marilyn Reynolds. In this section, the most important moment that happened was that Eddie finally began to strengthen his weakness by being able to share the horrible experience that has happened to him caused by Denton. He did this by drawing the scene where Denton was about to sexually assault him in a way no other child should experience. With the drawings by Eddie, it can prove that Denton was a molester all along, and that Eddie and Mario were not lying. I believe what is going to happen next should be obvious. Denton is going to be caught and be arrested. He will be sentenced to life in prison after what he did to Eddie and other kids. The most important change in this week’s reading is that Eddie is showing that he doesn't have to be scared of Denton anymore. There are always good people in the world to help stop the bad guys.

1- I think that one of the most significant ideas presented in this weeks reading was collaborating with others. Nowadays people must learn to work well with others because teamwork is a very essential aspect of life. We will not always be able to handle complications on our own so it is necessary to work with others. In the Hunger Games, Katniss starts to work with a girl from another district, proving to be rather efficient.
2-I think that Katniss will start to work by herself once again because the girl from the other district will no longer be able to help her due to her death. I also think that Katniss will be merciless and kill people on the spot. When she saw the district member with the arrow pointing torwards the little girl from the district, Katniss immediately killed him, but it turned out to be too late. I think she will continue to be on the hunt to satisfy her vengeance.
3-The most important change in this section was simply the fact that Katniss was able to work well with others. It proved that she was capable of interaction, changing her personality completely from her shy personality in the beginning of the story. She worked well with the young girl, and i think that in order to win the games she will need to work well with others. The only reason she transitioned into a more friendly character was simply the fact that she is a very ambitious character and cannot satisfy herself with anything less than success.

In this week's reading of "Shut Up" by Marilyn Reynolds, the most important moment was when Mario couldn't take living with the molester, Denton so Mario takes Eddie to one of their relatives to be protected. From what is about to happen next I would guess that since Denton really wants Eddie that there would be a fight for the responsibility of Eddie. Due to the fact that Denton has done terrible stuff to Eddie he wouldn't want to let go the one person who experienced it roam free to tell the police. Since Mario was one of the witness that seen everything happen he will do anything to protect his brother but Mario is faced with the conflict of his promise to his brother that he swears that he won't tell anyone what had happened in the incident. Mario would probably tell people about Eddie's secret because he has to say something to protect his own brother. The most important change in this reading is the fact that Mario has to make a difficult choice whether or not to break his promise to Eddie or to keep it and let the whole incident slip.

1) The most important idea in this section is that Autumn has to get Jason to sign adoptionn papers in order for Nikki and Penny to adopt her baby. Another important thing is that Autumn has to tell Danni all the secrets that she kept from her.

2) I think that later, Autumn will tell Danni everything that has happened and once she gives birth to the baby, she will give it to Nikki and Penny. I believe that this will happen because Autumn can’t keep secrets from her best friend forever and she already promised Nikki and Penny that she would let them keep her baby.

3) The most important change in this section is that Autumn finally decided to tell all her secrets she was keeping from her best friend Danni. This is important because now, Autumn does not have to feel bad or guilty every time she sees her friend.

In this week's reading of the book "Sold" by Patricia McCormick, the most important moment was when the main character Lakshmi, a young Nepalese girl raised in a poor mountainous village, is introduced to a woman in the marketplace and gets the chance to work as a maid for her. Since a seasonal monsoon washed away the family crops and the family is desperately poor, Lakshmi takes up the opportunity and follows the woman back into the city to work. However, I feel that the offer of the maid job is a total fake and that Lakshmi will likely doing something she doesn't want to do. I think this because of how the book is titled and how the woman is somewhat vague in her description of the job. The most important change in this section, nonetheless, was when Lakshmi made the choice to leave her village and embark on a new life journey, thanks to the woman's offer and the "promise" of a better future.

My post during this week is about the book literature of my group reading about. It's name "A Child Called "It". I read this book during this week is section five.

I think the most important of this section is Dave, why because I think he are the most important of this section? Because in this section of the character do to him. He being given a very little to eat. He receives no lunch and gets dinner on only one day in three. One evening the character grabs a knife and screams at him that if he does not finish his chores on time, she will kill him, it isn't the first time she has made such a threaten.

I think he doesn't believe that because she is going to strike him a lot of time, but something happening make her almost lose her balance, the knife flies from her hand, and Dave ends up getting stabbed in the stomach.

I don't think have any change in this section because this one incident in which Dave is stabbed is given a chapter all by itself. It marks an important stage in Dave’s journey because he shows he has the determination and resourcefulness to survive whatever neglect and abuse he suffers. Once again, his mother’s actions are almost incredibly callous and cruel, not to mention risky, since she could easily have killed the boy unintentionally with the knife. Not only this, Dave obviously needed professional medical care after the stabbing, which she denied him.

This week I am reading “The Child called It” by Dave Pelzer. The most important moment for this section, While Father Is Away, is David's father starts to spend less time at home which means David's gonna suffer more alone. Mother starves David for ten days, making sure that he cannot find any scraps or steal any food, and she sends David to clean the bathroom. She puts a bucket of Clorox and ammonia in the room and closes the door. So the bad daily routine continues.
I think that David's suffering will still continue and even worse because his father's not gonna be home to protect him.
The most important change in this section is that David's parents are separated and his father is not gonna protect him anymore.

Telling by Marilyn Reynolds

1. What are the most important ideas/moments in this text/section?
The most important ideas are that family will protect each other and love each other.

2. What do you think will happen next---and why?
I think Fred Sloan will be in jail and Cassie will have convinced everyone in her family that she is telling the truth. In addition, Cassie will also try to have a normal life but we don't know how the event will affect her. I believe is because most of Reynolds's books have a happy ending and this seems to be a kind of happy ending.

3. What was the most important change in this section? How and why did it happen?
Cassie and her mom get past their fight at the beginning of the book. When Cassie tells the police about the event with her neighbor, they arrest Fred Sloan. This leads Angie, the wife, to be really angry at the accusation of Cassie as well as the children of the family to not be friends. Angie confronts Cassie, her mom, and her little brother at the lawn of their house. The mom saves Cassie from Angie's confrontation by shooting water from the hose. Then Cassie and her mom make-up.

1. The most important moment would have to be Steve telling his testimony. After hearing different testimony from different victims it was finally time to hear Steve. When Steve was talking to his dad privately he told him that he planned on telling the truth, of what really happen.
2. What I think will happen next is that Steve will be found guilty. From what I read so far Steve actually seems like an honest type of person. He had voucher which is actually his film teacher and he was able to talk about the good characteristic he had.
3. The most important change would have to be the experience that Steve is going through. He has to suffer going through jail for doing absolutely nothing. He was just at the wrong place at the wrong time and now he is involved with something he would never do.

In the Perks of Being a Wallflower by Steven Chbosky, the foreshadowing of Brad's and Patrick's turmoil has escalated to a climax where Brad's decision to reject Patrick and his own homosexuality leads to a physical fight and emotional pain. Patrick is completely devastated while Brad struggles to maintain his jock-like persona. It's saddening to see Brad completely deny Patrick, especially since Patrick treated him so sincerely. What's even more saddening is that Brad, who was in the cusp between accepting himself fully and flat out denial, had chosen the latter because of his intolerant dad and society's norms. It was made quite clear earlier in the book that this denial will bring him nothing but sadness. This common need to deny oneself in human society just to conform with others and be accepted is tiring and bleak. We look up to genius who pioneer different and amazing concepts, but somehow we can't accept the equally amazing differences in the natural world.
There is a staunch hope that Brad will snap out of it, apologize to Patrick, and stand up to his dad, but considering how chaotic teenage life is, as the book shows quite clearly, I feel like this happy ending won't happen. Therefore, it leads me to speculate whether Charlie will really transition into his second year of high school smoothly. This book talks of turmoils and obstacles people must face, but I feel like Charlie hasn't gone through his yet. Perhaps the next part will show some sort of serious inner turmoil relating to his past with Michael since his reaction to Michael seemed dull and almost dead. Would he explode into a cacophony of hysteria?

2. I believe that something big will happen next. Where there will be a decision of who will be the last surviving of the games. there will be difficulty trying to kill Cato.
3. The most important part of the reading of this week was when Katniss realises the wolves were the dead tributes changed into wolves to fight her. Katniss learns how horribly unethical the capitol is.

1. I think the most important moment was when Katniss realized that she could now think about her and Peeta because they can win together, she went to go look for Peeta, who was seriously wounded and needed medical attention. She found Peeta and nursed him as well as she could.
2. I think Katniss and Peeta will be able to win the Hunger Games and go back home together as the tribunes for District 12, and be able to continue back to their lives.
3. The most important change is the set of rules that was altered due to the popular demand of "the star-crossed lovers". This gives only District 2 and 12 the winning advantage and Katniss could save Peeta.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky

1. The most important idea presented in this week's reading is shown in the saying, "we accept the love we think we deserve." This is a very profound statement because it illuminates the need for belonging and love. But sometimes it is harder to accept and love ourselves, so we look for easy love and acceptance in other people, even if we deserve better.

2. I think Charlie will finally find peace with himself after reconciling with his past. He will become more extroverted, participate more, and grow past being just a wallflower. I hope that he ends up getting together with Sam.

3. The most important change in this section happened when Charlie is admitted to the hospital. After Sam and Patrick left for college, Charlie felt alone and depressed, which led to his mental break down. It is revealed that he was molested by his Aunt Helen when he was a child. Charlie's repression of these traumatic memories explains why he displayed erratic and disturbed behavior throughout the book.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower - Stephen Chbosky

I had just realized the blunt nature of this book. Charlie, holds nothing in reserve when expressing his feelings, This raw outflow of emotions show that he does have more problems that meet the eye. In this week’s reading of The Help by Kathryn Stockett, the most important moments in the text would have to be how the Church recognizes what Aibileen, Minny, and Skeeter have done with the book. It shows how they supported them and would try to keep them safe. Another important part would be how scared Aibileen, Minny, and Skeeter are because they might be hurt if anyone finds out what they did, so throughout this part they are waiting till Hilly gets to the end of the book so she can stop the speculation. I think that Hilly will reach the end of the book and start denying that the book is about Jackson, and the girls will be safe. The most important change in this section of the book is that the book was published and people are reading it. Also that Skeeter has stopped wanting the approval of Hilly and the girls from the junior league.

In "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" by Stephen Chbosky, conflicts arise when Brad calls Patrick a "faggot". After Brad was caught with a guy by his father, his attitude towards Patrick has dramatically changed because of the beatings he received for being homosexual. Needing to maintain his reputation, Brad tries to prove his "straightness" by insulting Patrick. However, Charlie intervenes the dispute by threatening to take out Brad and his friends through forms of physical violence. In this moment, Charlie’s actions should be looked out for because it shows a side in Charlie’s bravery and dedication to his friend. In today’s society, the perception of homosexuality in high school is still a taboo topic but it is slowly accepted in parts of the United States. Brad's verbal taunt towards Patrick is his own downfall because he cannot accept the real him and must mask his true feelings sexually. Society's disability to accept certain changes in societal standards has caused instances of bullying to form.

David Perzer's "A Child Called "It"" described a story about David's child life being ruined by his brutal mother. His mother treat him better than the dog and any other brothers in the family. Only David the one keep being his mother's target of cruelty. And David don't want to tell anyone outsider about it and keep bearing it. He hates his mother the way she did to him, but he still loves her because she is his mother. And David's father, also a coward, not wanting to get in trouble by helping David. I believe next will be a book about David's life when he leaves this sad place. The main point about this book is to tell the truth about child abuse case, and wanted people to change their way of how they think it actually is.

The Help by Kathryn Stockett

1) The most important moments in this section is when Minny finds out that Ms. Celia hides in her room all day because she has been having problems with her pregnancy. She's so far had four miscarriges and is emotionally wrecked after it happens again. She starts to bleed excessively and tells Minny to call the doctor. The doctor knows that this hasn't happened only once and Ms.Celia has been one of his patience he usually sees. Ms.Celia does not want her husband to find out and wants Minny and the doctor to keep it a secret.

2)I think that because Minny has already met Ms.Celia's husband, she's going to tell him what's going on. I also think that Minny will have a more better understanding of Ms.Celia and that she will be closer to Ms.Celia.

3) The most important chance in this section is how much more Minny knows about Ms.Celia and that isn't an alcoholic. It happened because Minny was curious about what Ms.Celia was doing everyday hiding in her room, and she thought that she was drinking while being pregnant.

During this week's DEAR reading, Stephen Chbosky's THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER introduced the dilemma with early high school relationships. As Charlie engages in a serious relationship with Mary Elizabeth, he realizes his affections toward her are merely simple infatuation that gradually extinguishes as their relationship progresses through the weeks. While Charlie's feelings for Mary Elizabeth are trivial, he genuinely admires Sam, Mary Elizabeth's best friend. As Charlie attempts to suppress his true feelings for Sam, he discovers a side of himself he never knew existed.

In this weeks reading of "Monster" by Walter Dean Myers, I think the most important ideas are when witnesses are called to the stand. This shows everything that went on and gives an idea of who seems guilty. There is more than one person involved in this crime, one of them being Steve Harmon. Even though he didn’t really do anything, he is going to get in a lot of trouble. I think that next Steve will be accused of being deeply involved in the crime. Steve will get in trouble but not just because of the crime, but because of his skin color. I think that the most important change is just the different things people had to say on the stand and Steve’s thoughts about the whole thing.

In “The Secret Life Of Bee’s” the most important thing this week that I have read was that how someone’s death can affect someone’s life so much that it can cause a routine change from something that they have done every day. Another important moment that happened was that June gets engaged and Lily and Zach admit their feelings for each other. I think that after May’s death, everyone’s life was affected and that this causes many feelings and emotions that have been stored up all in the heart to burst and that leads to many mixed emotions. I think that this will happen because they may or may not want to look at someone to blame and that just causes more problem for everyone. The most important change that has occurred in this section was that May’s death affected everyone especially Lily. Lily has always been attached to May because she was the person that she was always able to, to talk to about her problems and they had a connection. Lily was the person that was able to always get May and whenever she was about to cry from all her emotions, that come across her mind, Lily was always able to make her forget about it.

1.) In the book "The Hunger Games", the important moment in the book is that no one should kill each other just for the amusement of the capitol and all the problems that affected the people around them.

2.) For me personally i think that the game maker in charge of the hunger game, make the games harder and make it so that there can be more killing. That there will be more violence and more people dying. More action in the hunger games.

3.)The most important change in this section is that there are allowing for two people in the same district live and not just one. This happen cause when Peeta and Katniss came together to help each other they decided to let two people live together and that it can cause more drama so that there can be more problems in the hunger game, which can lead to more actions.

1. I think the most important part of this weeks reading is that I have finally found out the ending to the story "Too Soon for Jeff" by Marilyn Reynolds. I will not spoil the story for others who may still be reading it, but Jeff's decision at the end really portrayed responsibility over all things. I think the decision he made was wise, and that he made the right choice.

2. What I think would happen next (after the story) is that Jeff would still probably continue going on to a better college. Even though it might take longer than he expected, I think that it was for the best. I think he is following his mother's footsteps by going to college after raising a baby, which could turn out fine, considering his mom has gone a long way doing so. Also I thimk the main reason Jeff does this is because he doesn't want to be like his father, abandoning him when he was little. A quote from the story: " 'I can't I say. I try to explain about Ethan, but don't think he gets it. 'I'm sorry,' Itell him"

3. I think the most important part or change in this story is when Jeff comes back to Los Angeles for thanksgiving, and realises that Ethan was the most important thing in his life.

Too Soon For Jeff, by Marilyn Reynolds
1. For this week I read how some characters faced their difficult and troubled times. Jeff had a troubled time when he couldn't stop the baby from crying. Christy had some trouble taking care of Ethan while Jeff had to leave and go to Texas for his last year in college before he moves back to California for school. Christy's mom couldn't take care of Ethan because she was sick.
2. I think at the end of the story the couple will get along fine and live happily with Ethan in the family while still being a college student.
3. In the story the situation changed because they have to take care of Ethan while still being in college. Another important change is that Jeff has to move back to California for college when he has a new girlfriend over there. This is a major change because when he moves back to California he has to take care of Ethan after Christy was taking care of him for about 2 months.

Monster by Walter Dean Myers

1. Steve Harmon truly has been through a lot. The book doesn't indicate whether or not he is guilty yet, however, they inform you mostly of his life in prison as well as whats going on in the trial. The interesting that i think is interesting about this part of the text is Steve's recollection on himself. During the process of going through this trial and being in the jail he starts to think is he truly a good person. I think this part is interesting to me because it shows what hes thinking of himself, before i know the answer if he's innocent or not for the murder.

2. I think possibly that no matter the outcome of him being innocent or not. This whole experience and trial has taught him to be a better person in general. It has also opened his eyes to more racism and how the justice system works for colored people. My main prediction is that he'll learn from his mistakes and experience of this trial and benefit somehow in the world and community after he is through with all of this. I believe that is a positive prediction that is very possible to come true.

3. I think the most important change that this had was Steve's mindset of how he views himself. I think that this shows recollection on how well he truly thinks of himself and how he is viewed throughout society. The thing that i personally liked about this text and this book in general is it states a problem of racism and shows the reader how unfair it can truly be. The text throughout the book is a key indicator of how its unfair it is in society to be a different race. I think that the book inspires change for the reader. Steve Harmon's mindset changes through the process of the book. Throughout the book he goes through a lot, this includes the court trial and the jail time. During these events he starts to see himself and think of how and who he is to society and to himself.

In the book "The Hunger Games",
1) I think the most important moment in this week's section is that nobody be put in an arena of 23 other kids and just murder each other for the capitol and amusement These people had lives and are cared by and loved by other people and it hurts them to watch them die and be tortured for other poeple's amusement.

2) To me, I think that the Gamemakers running the hunger games, make the game more "fun" and more exciting for the Capitol to watch. This means more killing and death and blood. That there will be more violence and more people dying. More action in the hunger games making more people watch it.

3) I think the most important change in this section is that in the end of the Hunger Games there are two victors instead of one. This happens when Peeta and Katniss teamed up and helped each other and the Gamemakers chose to let two peoplewho live together to team up. They thought his would cause more drama and a good show for the crowd, which can lead to more actions.
